About Buda-B
Hi! My name is Bianca. I am a 30-year-old, dual Norwegian/American citizen who was born in Oslo, Norway and raised in California. Ever since graduating high school in 2005, I have been working towards getting into medical school. The journey has been an exciting one to say the least – training for the Officer’s program in the US Navy, surviving life in Los Angeles for 3 years and my international move (which included taking physics in Norwegian!). I have had my share of challenges – and considering where I am now, it was all worth it!
When we first learned that we could apply to medical school via Bjørknes Høyskole in Oslo, we scoured the internet for any information about the schools and students experiences, really anything that would give us an idea of what our lives would be like there and what to expect. We found a couple of blogs and forums, but nothing gave us the full picture. It was then that I decided to start this blog. In addition to it being a way to update our family and friends about what we are up to, it serves to document this chapter in our lives and it can maybe help those going through the same experience.
This blog has documented the majority of our experiences (days spent lying on the couch weren’t interesting enough for their own posts) from applying to medical school to where we are now: our final year of medicine.
Enjoy your time in Budapest!
Thank you! I will 😉 You have beautiful photos!
Hello, I poped into this blog by the keywords of study and library. I enjoyed some of your posting. Thank you.
Thank you very much, Jion Kim!
Love you blog! I’ve applied for Medicine in Budapest still waiting to hear back, I’ve been trying to study medicine since I was 17 so can totally relate! Keep up the good work! xx
Hi Solmaz! Thank you for your comment 🙂 and nice to meet someone who’s shared the same path! Wishing you the best of luck with your results. Hopefully you’ll be hearing good news soon!
Hey! I just wanted to drop a quick message: Please never stop blogging! I’m a second year med student at Debrecen and reading your experiences (which are so similar to my own) really lessens my anxiety and calms me to a certain degree. Thank you for writing such vivid and detailed experiences and I wish you all the best for the rest of the years!
Hello and thank you for your comment! Made me so happy to read it. Don’t worry – I’ll keep going as long as I can!
Do you have any more sketchy micro notes to share? Your notes are so amazing!
Hi Taylor! Thank you 😀 Send me an email to biancamirella@gmail.com and I can send you what I have.
hi Bianca!
I am considering study medicine in semmelweis uni!
I got lots of questions!
Can we exchange contact?
Hi Jim! Sorry for the late reply! The blog and blog emails got pushed to the side this semester. Feel free to send me a message using the contact form on the blog 🙂
Best student and best notes. Of course I am bit partial to Bianca. You worked hard so far – you will make it
Hi, I love your notes!! I’m currently studying for my board exam and I will really appreciate if you could send me some of them, specially those of sketchy and pathoma if you have some. They are too good!
Hi Karina,
I’m sorry for my delayed reply. Thank you for your kind comments! Unfortunately I’m not able to share my notes (I signed a contract with Sketchy and was told that it would be copyright infringement). My notes are a bit sporadic anyway, so I don’t think they would be very useful. I really recommend checking out some of these Step 1 prep groups on Facebook. A lot of people share their notes and resources there and you might be able to find something you like there.
Best of luck and happy studying!
Bianca
